border
(noun) 1. a line separating two political or geographical areas 2. the edge or boundary of something (verb) 1. to form an edge along or beside something |
conversation
(noun) 1. the informal exchange of ideas through spoken words from the Middle English word "converse" meaning "living among, familiarity, intimacy" also "manner of conducting oneself in the world" |
This gathering brought together a small community of artists and representatives of organizations such as Hands of Peace and Karam Foundation working with topics around displacement, conflict, and borders to share a meal, along with our experiences, thoughts, and beliefs around these topics. Modeling care and togetherness as a way of being in the world presents a possible solution to these larger problems. Conversation becomes an art form for shaping individual change. These simple acts create something poetic, symbolic, and meaningful.
